How you pay your wholesale supplier affects your effective cost per piece, your dispute leverage, and your cash flow. Here is the practical breakdown of the four most common payment methods for wholesale football jersey orders from China.

T/T (Bank Wire Transfer)

Best for: Orders above $1,000, established supplier relationships.

Fees: Your bank charges $20-50 per outgoing wire. Receiving bank in China charges $10-20. Total ~$30-70 per transaction regardless of size.

Processing time: 1-3 business days. SWIFT can take longer for some banks.

Workflow: Typically 30% deposit on order confirmation, 70% balance on dispatch (against tracking number). This is the standard "30/70" arrangement worldwide.

Buyer protection: None directly. Your protection is the supplier's reputation and your relationship. Always request a Proforma Invoice (PI) before deposit.

PayPal Goods & Services

Best for: Sample orders, first-time buyer trust-building, orders under $1,000.

Fees: PayPal charges the supplier 3.5-4.5% of order value. Most suppliers will pass some or all of this back to you as a 3-5% surcharge.

Processing time: Instant.

Buyer protection: Strong. PayPal Goods & Services covers undelivered or significantly-not-as-described claims. You have 180 days to file a dispute. This is the safest way to test a new supplier.

Drawback: The 3.5-4.5% fee adds up on larger orders. At a $1,000 order, that's $35-45 of pure friction cost. Switch to T/T once you trust the supplier.

Western Union

Best for: Small, fast repeat orders to trusted suppliers.

Fees: $15-30 flat per transaction up to ~$1,000.

Processing time: Minutes to hours.

Buyer protection: None. Western Union is essentially cash — once sent, no recourse.

Practical use: Most wholesalers use this for fast topup orders ($200-500) when they already trust the supplier and need a quick restock.

USDT (Tether on TRC20 or ERC20)

Best for: Crypto-fluent resellers, sanctions-impacted regions, very fast settlement.

Fees: Network fee only — typically $1-5 on TRC20, $5-30 on ERC20. No bank intermediary.

Processing time: Minutes.

Buyer protection: None — irreversible like Western Union.

Use case: Resellers in regions with banking constraints (Russia, Iran), or those who already operate crypto-heavy treasury. USDT is the de facto stablecoin standard. TRC20 is preferred for the lower network fees.

Recommended Method by Order Size

  • $50-200 (sample order): PayPal Goods & Services. Buyer protection is worth the 4% fee.
  • $200-1,000: Western Union or T/T. WU for trusted suppliers, T/T otherwise.
  • $1,000-10,000: T/T with 30/70 split.
  • $10,000+: T/T with negotiated terms (e.g., 30% deposit, 40% on production complete, 30% on dispatch).
  • Crypto-fluent: USDT TRC20 at any scale.

Red Flags

  • Supplier insists on Western Union or USDT only, refuses PayPal — be cautious, especially with new relationships.
  • Supplier asks for 100% upfront on a large order — non-standard. Industry norm is 30/70.
  • Bank account name doesn't match the supplier company name — confirm before sending.

Jerseys.cc accepts all four methods. PI issued on request before any payment.
